World-renowned research institutes combine
with four universities to give Edinburgh its well-deserved global
influence in many disciplines, including informatics, micro- and
opto-electronics, energy, renewables, cleantech, electronics and
life sciences. The University of Edinburgh is ranked among the top
six in Europe, alongside Cambridge, Oxford and three in London.
The combined space of the Edinburgh Science
Triangle Parks places the “super-campus” amongst the 20 largest
science parks in the world.
The parks and innovation centres are designed
to accommodate and support knowledge – intensive companies at every
life stage and facilitate access to Edinburgh’s world-class
academic expertise and research.
All the sites are within 30 minutes of each
other, the universities and research institutes, the vibrant city
centre and the well-connected international airport. Over 200
hectares of parkland will eventually provide nearly 500,000 sq m of
built space accommodating around 15,000 researchers and
experts.
